Anger is the protective response to being hurt, or the threat of being hurt. It doesn’t matter what kind of hurt, if you’re angry, something is hurting. It might be very hard to find and figure out what hurts and why, but it’s there. There is no shame in hurting or anger either, and it’s good to recognize both.

More so, right now, hurt, anger, and that judgement-free recognition of both, is something you can use. Make your phone calls, write your letters, talk to friends and family. Make where you stand known, and make it known with compassion, with kindness, and with a greater understanding than you had yesterday.
