Finishing work is all that is left – hanging wires and another coat of resin on a few.

Steve keeps insisting that these are some of my best.

My daughter, who has dozens of older pieces in her room, spotted the pieces this morning, while taking the garbage out to the garage. “Mommy,” she said, “I was SPEECHLESS.”

I guess you’re doing alright when your two biggest fans (and the two who will pull faces at ones they don’t like) are more excited than you are.

I keep meaning to go upload the newest shots for Patreon supporters. Since the show is cash and carry, I may not get another chance to photograph them. Hrm. A living meditation on letting go?

I am behind on everything else, it feels like. Jamberry, Posh – thankfully, not jewelry – getting the rest of life sorted. I’m not really behind. I’m just not as far along as the Task Master in my head wants me to be – but there is only so much that can be done before exhaustion takes over, and the wise voice of reason is prevailing, mostly. I know friends (love you all) are consistently telling me to rest, rest, rest – but this, art, is important to me. Not because I hold the conviction that something great will happen if I work such and such amount, just because I take pride in knowing I did my best work. It is satisfying. So, yes, I am exhausted, but it’s the kind of exhausted that lets you know that you have given everything you have. Knowing that, I can’t doubt if I could have done better. I would rather be tired than have regrets.

Art related – it’s an interesting experience when you are so close, psychologically, to your work that you can only tell that you have done your best with it, and nothing much beyond that. It is that much an extension of my Self – I can’t very well judge it. It is me.

Perhaps that is the best thing that one could say about art – it is a genuine expression of the artist. Whether or not someone likes it, that is irrelevant, I suspect.
