The Mistral Fountain Pen in Neon Watermelon I
The Mistral Fountain Pen in Neon Watermelon I
Hardware: Mistral Fountain Pen in Titanium Gold with Brushed Gold accent band.
Body: Neon Watermelon I, Hot pink, iridescent green, gold, and hints of teal when that green shifts colors.
The Mistral Fountain Pen is an absolutely gorgeous pen.
The hardware was created by Beaufort Ink, a small family company of passionate pen enthusiasts based in the UK. Their pen hardware is held to world-class standards to be one of the best on the market, and is the primary reason I chose to work with this hardware – it’s GORGEOUS. The Mistral comes with their own German made, high quality fountain pen nib as standard, together with a premium quality ink converter for easy refilling and changing ink. (This is NOT a dip pen.) If you prefer Bock nibs, you can easily swap for a Bock size 5 (type 180) nib in a “kit compatible” housing, which will screw straight in as a direct replacement.
The resin is, as always, a one of a kind cast by me, then individually turned by hand in my workshop, and meticulously finished and polished. The pigments used in the cast include fine art pigments, industry-best ultrachrome pigments used in high end automotive paints, and brilliant, shimmering micas.
This pen is made to last generations, with care, but will happily stand up to daily use. This pen has a smaller nib and grip than some of the other fountain pens available, perfect for smaller hands or just someone who prefers a slimmer grip. The body is beautifully balanced in hand. The cap does NOT post – or, slide over the non-writing end of the body.
Photos just don’t do these pens justice – but I tried.

from 27 reviewsI bought this pen because I knew it would be beautiful and it didn't disappoint-- it has pockets of glitter that give it a 3D geode effect. It's perfection to look at and I love having it. To me, the most exceptional thing about this pen is how awesome it is as a functional pen. Even though the cap doesn't slide onto the body, it is still long enough to hold comfortably and is perfectly balanced. That's the real art in this pen, having something so beautiful to look at that is perfectly functional in use.
Thank you, Abby, for making art that I can take with me and share with someone every day.
